Junior School Music

From their very first days in Kindergarten, Wenona students embark on a journey of artistic discovery and expression. Our comprehensive performing arts program cultivates confidence and creativity. Our youngest learners showcase their talents in productions such as the Christmas Play and hone their public speaking abilities through opportunities like the Junior School Public Speaking Competition.

Music Education

Music education is a key area of the Junior School curriculum and is delivered in class by highly qualified specialist teachers. From Years 3 to 6, every student learns an instrument and enjoys numerous performance opportunities including:

  • Junior Choir
  • Woodstock Choir
  • Junior Percussion

Every two years, the Wenona Junior School unites for a spectacular full-scale musical, staged at The Concourse, Chatswood.

Senior School Music

Students of all abilities are encouraged to join our comprehensive Co-curricular Music Program. As they move up through the year groups, their options grow – six choirs, an orchestra, string, wind, brass, and flute ensembles, and various bands including a concert band, a stage band, and a rock band, are all available. The students can also take part in the biennial Senior School Musical, an intensely enjoyable experience for all.

Tuition

Extra-curricular private tuition is available in a wide range of instruments including piano, string, woodwind, brass, drums and percussion, voice, and musicianship and theory. Girls can sit the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) examinations each year.

Scholarships

Wenona offers full and part Music Scholarships each year for students entering Year 7. Selection is based on an audition, proof of a strong background in music, Scholarship Exam results and an interview process.

Music Performance Opportunities

The Music Therapy Club

The Music Therapy Club provides an opportunity for our musicians to share their talents with audiences in aged care facilities, giving back to the community while perfecting their performance skills.
