Innovating Imagineers
Our teachers are ‘imagineers’, conjuring intriguing invitations to learn, while grounding every educational experience in the latest research.
With a deep understanding of each girl’s learning style, we empower our students to explore complex ideas, embrace diverse perspectives and gain a lifelong love of learning.
Curiosity and Compassion
An authorised International Baccalaureate school, we deliver the Primary Years Programme, engaging our students through inquiry-based learning and transdisciplinary themes.
Curiosity, critical thinking, and international mindedness are fostered, as we draw out each student’s innate capacities and wisdom. In turn, our girls astonish us with their rapid progress. They build a mature understanding of the world, a deep compassion for one another and a determination to keep improving, by honing their unique talents and gifts.
What is the IBPYP?
As an authorised International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, Wenona offers the Primary Years Programme (PYP) from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our commitment aligns with the IB philosophy: to nurture self-aware, self-determining lifelong learners with the values of internationally minded citizens.
Our approach empowers students through:
- Rich, dynamic learning experiences that foster student voice, choice, and agency
- Educational Support Services offering learning support, English language assistance, and gifted and talented extension programs
- Renaissance Studies beginning in Year 5
- A K-12 learning framework providing a common language and understanding across all years
Wellbeing in the Junior School
Our commitment to student wellbeing is woven into every aspect of School life, with a network of care available to every Junior School girl and her family. Our trained and dedicated staff use best practice wellbeing programming to guide each student’s social and emotional development. Together they form a comprehensive and holistic approach that supports every student to thrive.
Wenona’s Primary Years Programme Exhibitions are a cornerstone of our commitment to fostering the next generation – young women with rigorous research skills, mature reasoning abilities, and a passion for lifelong learning.
Our comprehensive approach begins in Kindergarten, teaching the girls how to not only acquire knowledge but apply it to the real-world challenges that affect our planet and its people.
By engaging in this process throughout the Junior School years, Wenona students develop an innovation mindset and collaboration skills that serve them well in the Senior School. By Year 7, their sense of confidence and agency is already well developed, preparing them to make a significant positive impact on the world.

Renaissance Studies
Offered in Years 5 and 6, the Renaissance Studies program encourages girls to explore their interests through an ethical lens and learn the skill of collaborative inquiry. They discover the historical significance of the Renaissance period and contemplate the essence of being a Renaissance thinker. Along with knowledge acquisition comes a nurturing of critical thinking and ethical reasoning, enabling Wenona students to contribute meaningfully on a broad variety of topics.
