Fostering STEM Leaders
Wenona reimagines STEM to prepare girls for a lifetime of learning by:
- Connecting them with industry professionals, researchers, and universities
- Empowering them to engage in purposeful, real-world research
- Encouraging them to lead their younger peers in high-quality learning
- Inspiring them to achieve repeated wins in STEM competitions
- Fostering their engineering mindset through our much-loved Car Restoration Club.
Whole-School Learning
STEM learning begins in Kindergarten at Wenona and is woven into most curriculum areas. In the Junior School, the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme lends itself to the incorporation of STEM learning in a variety of transdisciplinary units undertaken by each year group. Senior School teachers like Director of STEM, Dr Thompson herself, teach classes to some of the youngest year groups in the Junior School and the older girls, while Years 5 and 6 attend STEM classes on the Senior School campus in the Senior School Science laboratories.
The students gain invaluable insights into scientific research processes, marine ecosystems, and environmental conservation while contributing meaningfully to ongoing studies on coral reef preservation. Our commitment to providing such extraordinary opportunities sets Wenona apart.
